Ho ho ho! It's your favorite holiday hostess, Mrs. Claus, here to share my secret to the perfect cup of eggnog! With the holiday season in full swing, there's nothing quite like curling up by the fire with a warm, comforting cup of eggnog in hand.
Now, I know there are plenty of eggnog recipes out there, but I can tell you from experience, there's nothing like the traditional, tried-and-true recipe that's been passed down in my family for generations. So, grab a pen and paper, and let's get started on making the best eggnog of your life!
Ingredients:
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions:
  1. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until they are light and frothy. Gradually add the sugar, and continue to beat until the mixture is thick and pale yellow in color.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk, cream, nutmeg, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and cloves until it just begins to steam.
  3. Gradually pour the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly, until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon. Be sure to cook the mixture slowly and don't let it boil!
  5. Remove the pan from heat, and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  6. Cover the mixture, and refrigerate until well chilled. This is a great time to add a sprinkle of nutmeg on top for extra flavor.
  7. When ready to serve, pour the eggnog into glasses, and sprinkle a little extra nutmeg on top.
And there you have it! The best eggnog recipe straight from my kitchen to yours. It's creamy, smooth, and full of warm, holiday spices. Trust me, this recipe is sure to be a hit at any holiday gathering. So, gather your friends and family, and raise a glass of eggnog to a jolly good time!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
